Nas Samples You Can Loop...
In Honor Of Nas' Born Day today...
...i'm using him as an excuse to post my favorite samples.
I decided to steer from the 7 second loops in order for you to enjoy. Instead I picked the joints you can let ride in your speakers and can stand alone without the stamp of being "sampled."
By the way if you care, Nas turns 36 today.
Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack "Born To Love," used for Nas "2nd Childhood"
Yes, this is the same Peabo who gained immortality on cartoon soundtracks.
The Gap Band "Yearning For Your Love," used for Nas feat. AZ "Life's A Bitch"
Nas and AZ's inaugural duet showcases the yin and yang of their talents. Charlie Wilson must be proud.
Stacy Lattisaw "Let Me Be Your Angel," used for Nas "Stillmatic (Intro)"
When I first used to hear Nas say "Stacy Lattisaw tapes" (i.e. Doo Rags) multiple times and had no idea what he meant. After discovering who I speculate is a young Marsha Ambrosius, I get why Nasir was such a fan.
Glen Jones "Show Me," used for AZ feat. Nas "How Ya Livin'"
An 80's track that became a 90's summer anthem for me, I'll pick the latter on this one.
Michael Jackson "Human Nature," used for Nas "It Ain't Hard To Tell"
Unthinkable at the time, sampling MJ assisted in making Illmatic and instant classic.
Minnie Ripperton "Here We Go" used for AZ feat. Nas "Gimmie Yours"
It's Minnie so you know you can't go wrong. From the intro the joint is heat regardless if it was sampled.
BONUS*
This wasn't as a sample but a track I always loved:
Nas "Life We Chose" + MF Doom "Arrow Root" = Nastrodoomus "Life"
"Life" dropped way back in '03, but it's is my personal favorite "unofficial" Nas cut to date.
