ABOUT BLAP

Most beat battles and producer showcases are taylored to industry professionals. But how would a general party crowd respond? B.L.A.P. (Beats Love Alcohol Party) was created to answer that question. Take four producers - a couple of known veterans and a few undiscovered talents, put them in front of a party and tell them to play their beats - its that simple. What separates B.L.A.P. from similar events is its casual nature. There is no stage and patrons are encouraged to dance. For the party goer unaware of the scene it becomes a new experience. For the industry pro, the laid back atmosphere provides a more comfortable arena to network & find their next hit producer. Created by Illmind, the producer for artists like 50 Cent, Redman, & The Jabbawockeez (ABDC's 1st season champs) who knows who will show up for this event series. Soon enough, everyone will know at B.L.A.P. - the MPC becomes the turntable.

PILL
INTERVIEW Pt. 1 Link:

Shine Travis and Holley Monelle talk to Atlanta MC PILL about his subject matter, delivering a message outside of what people perceive as the normal "trap" rapper, his record "Trap Goin Ham", how he met Killer Mike, and what it felt like to be an artist in high school recording in Outkast's Stankonia Studios.

RIP Teddy Pendergrass

R&B crooner Teddy Pendergrass died last night (Jan 13th) due to colon cancer at the age of 59.
Known for his lead vocals for Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes as well as his own solo
career, Pendergrass' smooth baritone vocals set his place as the sex symbol of his era.

Unfortunately a 1983 car accident left him paralyzed and his career would never reach the same heights during his prime. As a result, news of his passing made many realize that he was still alive after all these years, even when still recording and performing.

I'm guilty of blasting "Close The Door" by Teddy Pendergrass in the whip very, very loud. When I drive by,
people look at me funny, especially because it's old school R&B. But if you've heard any of Teddy's songs,
they have that effect on people. His music draws people together, especially when setting the soundtrack to booty call here and there. Along with legends like Marvin Gaye and Barry White, Teddy arguably could
complete the trinity of slow jam royalty.

Here's a couple Teddy P favorites, reworked in some familiar Hip-Hop joints.

"Love T.K.O" sampled by Ahmad "Back In The Day"

"Can't We Try" sampled by Ghostface "Camay" Loop begins at the :50 mark.

"Close The Door" sampled by The B.U.M.S. "Elevation (Free My Mind)"

"Easy Easy Got to Take It Easy" sampled by Little Brother "Not Enough" Sample begins at the 2:12 mark.
